GQ LAUNCHES BEHIND-THE-SINCE THE GLEE "NAUGHTYGIRLS"

Saturday, November 13, 2010
Just as the row over GQ's 'naughty schoolgirls' Glee issue was beginning to subside, the magazine has published behind-the-scenes video from the shoot.

The explicit video shows stars Lea Michele, 24 and Dianna Agron, 24, laughing as they strike a series of raunchy poses, dressed in an erotic imitation of a school uniform.

Some shots show them simply in their underwear, and are more revealing than the original magazine shoot, which caused outrage from parents groups.

Despite the fact that all the cast mates are over the age of 21, the row stemmed from the fact they are shot as their high school characters.

The Parents Television Council released a statement condemning GQ for publishing the pictures.

'It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualising the actresses who play high school-aged characters on Glee in this way.

'It borders on paedophilia.'

But GQ stood by its decision to run the pictures and interview.

Editor-in-chief Jim Nelson said: 'The Parents Television Council must not be watching much TV these days and should learn to divide reality from fantasy.'

One person who did apologise was Dianna. The actress took to her blog to tell fans: 'These photos do not represent who I am.'

And she admitted that she herself was not keen on the sexy schoolgirl theme of the shoot. In the new video her co-star Lea is seen tearing off Dianna's shirt.

Dianna wrote: 'They asked us to play very heightened versions of our school characters. A Hit Me Baby One More Time version.

'At the time, it wasn’t my favourite idea, but I did not walk away.'

"GLEE" PHOTOS IN GQ ARE DISTURBING! - PARENT TELEVISION COUNCIL

Wednesday, October 20, 2010
The Glee photo shoot featured in the November issue of GQ is facing criticism from the Parents Television Council. The group recently chastised Miley Cyrus for her “Who Owns My Heart” video and Taylor Momsen on the cover of Revolver which, of course, made sense.

(Although to a lesser extent with Taylor Momsen because she wasn’t the lynchpin of an entire franchise aimed at 12-year-olds. Plus who the hell is she?) But now they’re going a tad overboard by labeling the GQ shoot as “pedophilia” in an official statement:
“It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia. Sadly, this is just the latest example of the overt sexualization of young girls in entertainment,” said PTC President Tim Winter.
“Many children who flocked to ‘High School Musical’ have grown into ‘Glee’ fans. They are now being treated to seductive, in-your-face poses of the underwear-clad female characters posing in front of school lockers, one of them opting for a full-frontal crotch shot. By authorizing this kind of near-pornographic display, the creators of the program have established their intentions on the show’s direction. And it isn’t good for families.”
These people might actually have a point if Lea Michele and Dianna Agron weren’t both, oh I dunno, 24. Also, I’m pretty sure young girls aren’t picking up copies of GQ that don’t have Robert Pattinson on the cover, but back to my original point. Here’s the definition of pedophilia via Wikipedia:
As a medical diagnosis, pedophilia (or paedophilia) is typically defined as a psychiatric disorder in adults or late adolescents (persons age 16 and older) characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children (generally age 13 years or younger, though onset of puberty may vary)
I’m about to blow the Parent Television Council’s mind here, but high school seniors are 18. Some even 19. Now whether it’s right or wrong to date one is between you and the end of her father’s shotgun, but there’s absolutely nothing deviant about 24-year-old women dressed like high school cheerleaders. That’s practically the bread and butter of the entire porn industry which I probably shouldn’t be using as an example in this case. Let’s try another approach: At least boys are looking at these women in a heterosexual manner instead of studying evolution like a pack of homosexuals. Amirite? High five me, Jesus.

GLEE GOES SEXY FOR GQ MAGAZINE

It was a photo shoot that was always going to get a strong reaction - and indeed fans of Glee have been quick to express their views on the racy pictures of cast members in the new issue of men's publication GQ.

The magazine features stars Lea Michele, Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith ditching their wholesome onscreen personalities for a raunchy photoshoot which features the girls in skimpy outfits in a schoolroom setting.

Michele - who plays Rachel Berry in the hit show - strips down for the photo shoot to a micro-mini pair of white knickers, thigh-high blue and white striped socks, and a blue and white top that reveals a taut and toned bare midriff.

And in sharp contrast to the wholesome outfits her character wears on the show, Michele pulls the ensemble together by sucking on a lollipop and leaning suggestively up against a school locker.

Co-star Dianna Agron, who plays head cheerleader Quinn Fabray, also features in the shoot, at one point wearing a sexy cheerleader outfit with a barely there skirt and red high heels.

And both girls are on the cover - Agron in a grey micro mini skirt and a black off the shoulder top, and Michele in hot pink bra and knickers and matching high heels - with co-star Monteith - who is school football star Finn Hudson in the show.

The actor looks as though he can't believe his luck, a cheeky smirk on his face as he places his hands on both girls' bottoms in the cover photo.

It hasn't taken long for fans - and non-fans - of the show to react to the shoot - and many of them agree that the girls look fantastic.

'I never watched Glee before,' one reader calling themselves Angus8 wrote on the Perez Hilton website. 'Think it is time to start. That Lea Michele is smokin' hot.'

'I love that Lea is so confident with herself and she just had fun with it,' another fan, Raysa Rivero, said of the shoot.

Others commenting on the gossip website, however, suggested that Agron looked better in the pictures, and that Michele was less effective in her barely-there outfits.

'Dianna looks good, sexy without even trying,' wrote xFaust. 'Lea's trying way too hard.'

Not everybody has been so keen on the photos though. 'I don't understand why they have to sex everything up. Jokers,' commented Femi on Mail Online, while reader Aaliyah, from London agreed.

'I hate how people feel the need to do this to themselves to get more attention, they're all the same!' she wrote.

Others on Perez Hilton's site pointed out that Cory Monteith remains fully clothed throughout, while the girls leave little to the imagination.

'They should have had Cory with his shirt off in some pics as well,' said reader Stephanie Hall while fan Virginia Gibson said, 'I agree, where's Cory Monteith's skin?'

During the GQ photo shoot Agron said: 'When it was just Lea and me, I was like, "We’re in skimpy clothes, we’re up against each other." I’ve never been shot in so little clothing.'

THE SEDUCTIVE POSE BY LEA MICHELE

Wednesday, September 29, 2010
It's enough to make her alter ego run prudishly screaming back to the rehearsal room.

In what is probably her sexiest photo shoot to date, actress Lea Michele gazes seductively at the camera as she poses in nothing more than black pants and calf-high lace-up boots.

It's certainly a far cry from the knee-high socks, knitted motif jumpers and sensible shoes that have made her Glee character Rachel Berry a household name all over the world.

And as ironies go, Lea, 24, said life has imitated art for her by landing the role and she is actually a lot more like her character than some people would think.

The Broadway star stripped off down to her pants, hiding her modesty behind a black tutu as she teetered on lace-up high heeled boots for the sexy photo shoot for Marie Claire.

In another shot, she stands on a wooden block in a leotard and Charlotte Olympia platform heels as she oozes with attitude and sex appeal.

Lea has become a household name over the past 12 months, thanks to the international success of the all-singing, all-dancing Glee, in which she plays the annoying but super-talented Rachel, the female star of the William McKinley High show choir.

And she revealed, in her interview with Marie Claire, that her school life was not so far removed from that of her characters.

At eight years old, she got her first role on Broadway in the original New York production of Les Misérables after accompanying her friend to an open-call audition.

For the next six years she juggled stage and schooling, winning plaudits along the way until, at 14, she quit the theatre life after deciding she wanted to be ‘a normal student’.

But she said she - just like Rachel - didn't quite fit in, explaining: ‘My school was bit like Gossip Girl in that there was a lot of money and we didn’t have as much.

'It was very clear towards the end of school that I was different to those people and I didn’t like the things that they liked. I would go to parties and the best part of going would be the leaving. I would go to a party because I felt that’s what I should be doing. I’m such a loser!’

She returned to the stage in 2006 in the award-winning production Spring Awakening, where she met, and became best friends with Glee co-star Jonathan Groff.

Two years ago he audition for the role of Rachel Berry in Glee came up, a part which was made for her and what she said has changed her life.

The November issue of Marie Claire is out now

She said: 'I auditioned once. I read and I sang On my Own and I sang a song from Thoroughly Modern Millie. Then I went straight in to meet the studio and I got it right away.

'The minute I read it, I wanted to play Rachel because I felt like I understood her and that she was a part of me.'

It's a role that has also won her numerous showbiz accolades, including an Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy.

But she is quick to point out that even though she receives the most attention, she said: ‘I feel very equal to my cast and I feel like I couldn’t do what I do without them.'

But is she as squeaky-clean as her good-living, early-to-bed early-to-rise character?

She said: 'I can honestly sit down in front of you and say I don’t smoke and I don’t do drugs. I never have and that’s who I am.

'These days I have one glass of wine and I’m completely gone. I’ve never been a “Let’s go out and have a cosmopolitan” kind of girl. I don’t even think I’ve ever tasted a cosmopolitan before. I much prefer a glass of wine and a bath at home at night to relax.’

But she does have one vice - a passion for tattoos, although she played down her nine inkings, which she said are 'so, so little'.

She has nine, each chronicling a significant milestone in her life. The first was a butterfly, on her back, at 16. There’s one for Spring Awakening, another, Imagine, after the John Lennon song, a gold star for Rachel Berry.

But she added: ‘I don’t have like a kiss on my butt or anything! They’re all tiny. All so, so, so little.’

Lea is currently starring in the second series of Glee, which started in the US on September 21 and is back on UK screens in January 2011.
