KYLIE MINOGUE STILL GOT THE SEX FACTOR!

Sunday, November 7, 2010

Kylie Minogue proved once again that she's still got it when it comes to sex appeal.

The sultry singer donned a tiny red dress, complete with a cut out waist segment, as she put in a sultry performance on the X Factor last night.

The 42-year-old star sang her new track Better Than Today and was cheered on by her younger sister Dannii who was watching from behind the judging panel.

Afterwards she told host Dermot O'Leary it was great to be back on the show. She has already performed on the coveted X Factor stage once before and has also helped Dannii pick her acts in the past.

Sister Dannii gave it all the thumbs up, shouting 'ten out of ten' as her sibling stood chatting with Dermot.

Former X Factor winner Shayne Ward was the other guest performer last night, singing his new comeback single Gotta Be Somebody.

Kylie took to twitter before her appearance to tell fans of her excitement.

She wrote: 'We just want tomorrow to be #BetterThanToday :) #XFactor Sunday night...here I come!!!!'

Showing more than a little bias in which finalists she is backing to win, the pop star added enthusiastically: 'WhoooOoOP @DanniiMinogue #TeamMinogue!!!'

Her younger sister appreciated the encouragement, replying immediately via her own Twitter: '‘The boys rocked the X Factor last night :-) See you tonight sista.’

Kylie has been on a major promotional push for her new album Aphrodite. After a whirlwind trip to America where she performed her recent release Get Outta My Way on US Dancing with the Stars and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, she is back on UK soil to push her next single.

Speaking about Aphrodite, the singer told Access Hollywood: 'I just feel like we’re really back on track with this album.

'I hadn’t had an album that was cohesive in a long time so that [is] where I feel this album is different and it pleases me so much. I was longing for that and I got it.

'People have been describing it as "a return to the dance floor." I don’t know how long I was away from the dance floor, but it really is. It’s a really dance-y album, but I think it’s pop dance.

'It has a lot of emotional moments, whether it’s just a kind of tender, soft feeling and then there’s these explosive, euphoric rushes - so I think that the balance throughout it is really amazing.'

The Australian was spotted leaving her London home earlier yesterday heading to the Wembley studios to prepare for her X Factor performance.

The star rugged up in an army green cropped jacket with a fur hood, which she teamed with black jeans with zips down the side.

Her footwear wasn't exactly weather-appropriate, the peep-toe boots exposing her toes to the bitter temperatures.

This is not the first time Kylie has joined her sister on the X Factor. She performed Better the Devil You Know during the 2008 final with eventual winner Leon Jackson.

And in last year's series she assisted Dannii, 38, to select her finalists during the judges' houses round of auditions.

MODERN POP CULTURE SEXUALISING YOUNGSTER

Tuesday, August 10, 2010
The man who helped launch the career of Kylie Minogue yesterday condemned modern pop culture for 'sexualising' youngsters.

Mike Stock, one third of the legendary pop factory Stock, Aitken and Waterman, said: 'The music industry has gone too far. It's not about me being old fashioned. It's about keeping values that are important in the modern world.

'These days you can't watch modern stars - like Britney Spears or Lady Gaga - with a two-year-old.'Not suitable for children': Lady Gaga in concert nearly naked

Ninety-nine per cent of the charts is R 'n' B and 99 per cent of that is soft pornography.'

He continued: 'Kids are being forced to grow up too young. Look at the videos. I wouldn't necessarily want my young kids to watch them.

'I would certainly be embarrassed to sit there with my mum.'

Mr Stock, 58, pictured below, was behind the rise of Miss Minogue in the late 1980s when she stormed the charts with I Should Be So Lucky.

In the accompanying video, she wore a simple black cocktail dress. The lyrics were similarly innocent.

In contrast, 24-year-old Lady Gaga, who burst on to the scene two years ago, has regularly used crude metaphors in her lyrics as well as posing in revealing outfits.

Mr Stock believes that today's children are being 'sexualised' as a result of images put out by the pop industry of stars such as Lady Gaga.

He said: 'Mothers of young children are worried because you can't control the TV remote control.

'Before children even step into school, they have all these images - the pop videos and computer games like Grand Theft Auto - confronting them and the parents can't control it. Talking to mothers' groups, they were saying that even they have lost faith in brands like Disney.

At risk: Mike Stock from famous 1980s production team Stock, Aitken and Waterman says children are now being 'sexualised' by pop

'They were quite happy to put their kids in front of the telly to watch Hannah Montana but recently Miley Cyrus [who played Montana] has shown off her maturing body.'

He also attacked the launch last week of the Material Girl clothes range by Madonna's 13-year-old daughter Lourdes, which features short skirts and slashed tops.

'I'm being told by mothers of young kids they're worried by the pressure on them for their children to wear clothes and make-up at a young age.'

'Lourdes is a 13-year-old girl. Madonna may have been happy but I bet about 90 per cent of parents wouldn't be happy with that.'

As a result of these concerns, Stock has written and produced a new musical, called The Go! Go! Go! Show, which is playing in London.

He said: 'It's born out of my frustration with the way the music industry has gone.

'We've written a family-orientated show. They [the mothers' groups] have been telling me what they want - and we have been trying to deliver it.'
