LADY GAGA DRESSES LIKE FLAMINGO

Friday, October 22, 2010
Locals at a west London pub got a surprise tonight when Lady Gaga popped in for a quiet pint.

True to form, the singer wasn't about to blend into the crowd and brought the pub to a standstill when she waltzed in wearing a pink flamingo-style dress, which looked like it had been made of pink wigs.

The American star's striking dress appeared to include a bustle, giving her the illusion of having a large backside.

The 24-year-old teamed her flamboyant dress with a leather biker jacket, fishnets, towering platform boots and a quilted Chanel bag.

The Poker Face star and a few friends stopped by the popular gastropub Westbourne, where she treated the paparazzi waiting outside to milk and cookies.

Gaga is currently enjoying a short break in the capital after she was forced to cancel her Paris concerts this weekend.

The singer postponed two gigs due to the ongoing strikes over the French government's pension reforms.

She posted a statement on her website saying the protests had created 'logistical difficulties' in getting the trucks containing her elaborate stage sets through the city centre.

The gigs scheduled for Friday and Saturday will now take place on 19 and 20 December.

Gaga's trip to London comes after she enjoyed a romantic holiday on the Greek island of Crete with boyfriend Luc Carl.

Her brief vacation was a welcome break for busy GaGa, who has been writing a new album as well as embarking on the latest leg of her Monster Ball tour, which started last year and ended in 2011.

She said: 'People say "why don’t you wait till the tour is over to finish your album?", and I say "firstly cos my fans aren’t going to wait that long."

'Secondly because I get so much inspiration every night when I’m here with you. Then after the show I drink a bottle of Jameson (whiskey) and I get s*** wasted.'

LADY GAGA WITH HER BIZZARE BIKINI...

Wednesday, October 20, 2010
It looks like Lady Gaga is on the way to being made into an honest woman by boyfriend Luc Carl.

The superstar and club promoter Carl took a holiday on the Greek island of Crete earlier this month.

And according to reports, the couple allegedly took part in a commitment ceremony while they were there.

Gaga, 24, and Carl exchanged handwritten vows during the secret ceremony, and also exchanged rings.

A source told Britain’s Grazia magazine, 'They exchanged rings in a spiritual service and drank shots before sitting down to a lovely private dinner at a tiny restaurant.

'They wanted to show that they are committed to each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together.

And according to the source, Gaga is determined to have a real family-themed wedding later on with all her friends and family.

'They are still planning to marry, but that will come later when she has the time to plan a big Italian-style wedding.'

Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotti) and Carl were seen lounging on the beach at the exclusive Blue Palace resort during their visit.

And it was clear Gaga could barely keep her hands off her 29-year-old boyfriend, lying on top of him to have their picture taken.

The Just Dance singer was dressed in a typically eccentric gold Princess Leia-type bikini, and kept a scarf over her blonde hair.

Gaga is currently touring Europe and recording an album at the same time.

LADY GAGA GOES POLITICAL?

Tuesday, September 21, 2010
We've got a new found respect for Lady Gaga who is using her immense fame to try and make change happen.

Not only did she support the overturning of California's Proposition 8 ban, she has now spoken at a rally for a Senate vote on the “Don't ask, Don't tell” military policy.

The policy prevents homosexual individuals from serving in the US military and Gaga has said that "equality is the prime rib of American."

Do you think other celeb's should speak out as openly as Gaga is?

LADY GAGA "RAW MEAT" OUTFIT!

Monday, September 13, 2010
It's a dress that certainly took some guts to wear.

But the question on everybody's lips after Lady Gaga's appearance in a 'raw meat' outfit at the MTV Video Music Awards was: real or fake?

The singer no doubt planned on causing maximum controversy by wearing the ensemble - including a meat hat and purse - to the Los Angeles event on Sunday night, where she picked up eight awards, the most for any artist in 23 years.

The dress, the work of Los Angeles-based Argentinian designer Franc Fernandez, came just days after Lady Gaga, 24, appeared on the cover of Japanese Vogue in a bikini also apparently made from meat, sparking outrage from animal rights activists.

Cher, who presented Lady Gaga with the most prestigious award of the night, Video of the Year for Bad Romance, also wore a daring outfit.

The 64-year-old recreated the see-through body suit look from her 1989 video If I Could Turn Back Time.

She said: 'I'm the oldest chick with the biggest hair in the littlest costume. Back in the day, I used to get thrown off MTV for wearing things like this that seem so tame now. That's when Lady Gaga was Baby Gaga.'

Lady Gaga also paid tribute to late designer Alexander McQueen by arriving in one of his gowns.

The 24-year-old singer, who won eight Moonman Awards, arrived on the red carpet in a flowing regal McQueen design, comprising gold, orange and green with a Renaissance-style art print on the front and a pair of ankle-breaking Armadillo 12-inch heels by the late designer.

During the ceremony she also wore a black leather creation by Giorgio Armani, before finishing off with her controversial raw meat dress.

LADY GAGA POSES NAKED IN RAW MEAT "BIKINI" ON VOGUE COVER

Tuesday, September 7, 2010
Even by her standards, it is a little raw.

Just when you thought it was impossible to be any more outrageous, Lady GaGa has gone further than ever with her latest shocking outfit.

The Poker Face singer has posed in a bikini made entirely of red meat for a magazine cover, prompting a furious response from animal rights campaigners.

Lady Gaga

Controversial: Lady Gaga has angered animal rights campaigners by posing in a raw meat 'bikini' on the cover of Japanese Men's Vogue magazine

On the cover of Japanese Men’s Vogue she poses with one hand on her hip and another on her head with what appears to be a steak under it.

The ‘bikini’ is strung together from other cuts of red meat as bright as her red lipstick that are draped strategically over her naked body.

‘Lady Gaga's job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body,’ said Ingrid Newkirk, president of animal rights campaign group PETA.

‘No matter how beautifully it is presented, flesh from a tortured animal is flesh from a tortured animal.

‘Meat represents bloody violence and suffering, so if that's the look they were going for—they achieved it.’

Gaga’s habit of wearing bizarre outfits is perhaps more legendary than her chart success.

From the excessively high shoulder pads to the warped wedding dresses and an entire outfit made of Kermit the Frog toys, she is never afraid to defy convention or, as appears here, good taste.

Gaga added a further layer of mystique to her personality in the interview by apparently posing for photographs inside as a man.

Painfully thin: A new book claims the singer has been starving herself to fit into her skimpy stage outfits

In the accompanying interview Jo Calderone, who appears to be her new alter-ego, claims to be a friend and occasional lover to the star, 24, even if the pictures very much look like Gaga herself.

Italian mechanic ‘Jo’ tells of how ‘beautiful, funny and interesting’ Gaga is and claims they met on a photo shoot.

‘I was a little nervous for Nick Knight (the photographer) to start shooting,’ Jo says.

‘She said, ‘Don't be baby, you were born this way’. I took her out after. The rest is private.’

Originally from Sicily, Jo says he wants to own his own car shop and ‘have a bunch of my own ‘muscle’ cars’ or take some pictures if he can afford it.

Adding fuel to the debate was a Twitter feed started by a Jo Calderone the day the magazine came out.

The latest post reads: ‘I am a man. I am a human being. I am me. And I was Born This Way.’

Gaga observers have also noted that Joanna is an abbreviation of her middle name, Joanna.

The male alter-ego, if indeed it is her, would be a new twist even by her standards.

A new book recently claimed that Gaga was starving herself to fit into her stage outfits.

Her former tour manager David Ciemny said she collapsed six times last year due to her her extreme dieting.

LADY GAGA SAYS DRUGS HELPED HER CAREER

Friday, August 27, 2010
We wonder whether Lady Gaga thinks about what she says before she says it, because the star has revealed that taking drugs helped her music career.

In an interview with Q magazine, the wacky singer revealed that she would write songs when she was under the influence because she found inspiration in “dark places”.
Gaga said: “(Using drugs) I really figured out the art I wanted to make and was inspired. Some people find inspiration in dark places. I guess I'm one of them.

“What always made me different is that if I was doing drugs I was also making music. I wasn't just doing drugs.”

The Paparazzi singer didn't limit her drug use when she was just writing songs, because the star took the illegal substances when she did some of her early performances.

“At the beginning I was doing performance art in handmade leather and leopard bikinis talking about oral sex and Andy Warhol and heavy metal.

"My mum was like, 'You've lost your mind.' I was doing drugs, I was really out of control. But I never got so far into it that I overdosed or anything.”

Now, however, Lady Gaga doesn't need drugs to let her creative juices flow.

“Once you open those doors they're open for ever. People who say they need (drugs) to be creative are full of s**t.

“I'm not some chick on the road getting high and f****d up every night. I wake up, drink coffee and get on the phone to talk about the creative direction of the next video.”

LADY GAGA OUTRAGEOUS OUTFITS!

Monday, August 23, 2010
Lady Gaga isn't one to hold back when it comes to causing controversy.

The 24-year-old performer is known for her outrageous on-stage and off-stage outfits, naked photo shoots and generally bizarre persona.

So it was no surprise to see Gaga following in the footsteps of the original queen of controversy, Madonna, by donning a nun's habit as she performed in Tacoma, Washington last night.

Courting controversy: Gaga donned a see-though plastic nun's outfit as part of her outrageous show last night in Washington

And Gaga being Gaga this was no regular, run of the mill nun's habit, hers was made from see-through plastic, showing her nude-coloured underwear and some criss cross plasters over her breasts.

Madonna sparked outrage from religious groups with the release of her fourth album, Like A Prayer, in 1989.

The video for the title song drew heavily on religious symbolism with Madonna dancing seductively in front of burning crosses, stigmata, statues crying blood and a dream about making love to a saint.

Dance moves: Gaga is currently embarking on the second leg of her Monsters Ball tour

In 2006 the singer sparked the ire of the Catholic church once again when she staged a mock crucifixion on stage during a performance at Rome's Olympic Stadium.

This isn't the first time Gaga has drawn comparisons with Madonna, her video for her hit song Alejandro appeared as a homage to the grand momma of pop, with dancing in front of burning crosses and an underwear clad Gaga dominating a scantily clad dancer tied to a bed.

Gaga has previously compared herself to the material girl, saying: 'We're both Italian-American women, we both started out in the New York underground scene - and we both became famous when we dyed our hair blonde.

Spectacular: Gaga has a number of outrageous and amazing costume changes during her show

'I think what Madonna and I share is that we are both fearless.'

The pair poked fun out of their rivalry during a sketch on the hit U.S. late night comedy show Saturday Night Live.

The pair engaged in a full-on cat fight replete with hair-pulling, pushing and wrestling before being split up and then finally kissing and making up.

It seems dressing as a nun is all the rage these days, Lindsay Lohan was the latest celebrity to get in on the craze, dressing in a black habit and licking a large handgun in an ad for her upcoming movie Machete.

Not all stars agree with using religious symbolism in the name of art though.

Katy Perry, whose parents are evangelical Christian preachers, slammed Gaga after her Alejandro video was released.

Madonna

Original Queen of controversy: Madonna relied heavily on religious symbolism during the time of her fourth album, Like a Prayer

Perry tweeted: 'Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling fart joke.'

But millions obviously disagree, with sell out crowds flocking to stadiums to watch Gaga on her Monster Ball tour, snapping up her albums and even following her every word on Twitter.

In fact, at the weekend Gaga managed to usurp Britney Spears and Ashton Kutcher to become the new reigning Queen of the social networking site after amassing 5,741,450 followers.

Gaga posted a video thanking her fans for making her the number one celebrity tweeter, promising: 'I vow to never partake in celebrity online shenanigans. And I vow to always tweet and tweet again.'

MODERN POP CULTURE SEXUALISING YOUNGSTER

Tuesday, August 10, 2010
The man who helped launch the career of Kylie Minogue yesterday condemned modern pop culture for 'sexualising' youngsters.

Mike Stock, one third of the legendary pop factory Stock, Aitken and Waterman, said: 'The music industry has gone too far. It's not about me being old fashioned. It's about keeping values that are important in the modern world.

'These days you can't watch modern stars - like Britney Spears or Lady Gaga - with a two-year-old.'Not suitable for children': Lady Gaga in concert nearly naked

Ninety-nine per cent of the charts is R 'n' B and 99 per cent of that is soft pornography.'

He continued: 'Kids are being forced to grow up too young. Look at the videos. I wouldn't necessarily want my young kids to watch them.

'I would certainly be embarrassed to sit there with my mum.'

Kylie graphic

Mr Stock, 58, pictured below, was behind the rise of Miss Minogue in the late 1980s when she stormed the charts with I Should Be So Lucky.

In the accompanying video, she wore a simple black cocktail dress. The lyrics were similarly innocent.

In contrast, 24-year-old Lady Gaga, who burst on to the scene two years ago, has regularly used crude metaphors in her lyrics as well as posing in revealing outfits.

Mr Stock believes that today's children are being 'sexualised' as a result of images put out by the pop industry of stars such as Lady Gaga.

He said: 'Mothers of young children are worried because you can't control the TV remote control.

'Before children even step into school, they have all these images - the pop videos and computer games like Grand Theft Auto - confronting them and the parents can't control it. Talking to mothers' groups, they were saying that even they have lost faith in brands like Disney.

Mike Stock

At risk: Mike Stock from famous 1980s production team Stock, Aitken and Waterman says children are now being 'sexualised' by pop

'They were quite happy to put their kids in front of the telly to watch Hannah Montana but recently Miley Cyrus [who played Montana] has shown off her maturing body.'

He also attacked the launch last week of the Material Girl clothes range by Madonna's 13-year-old daughter Lourdes, which features short skirts and slashed tops.

'I'm being told by mothers of young kids they're worried by the pressure on them for their children to wear clothes and make-up at a young age.'

'Lourdes is a 13-year-old girl. Madonna may have been happy but I bet about 90 per cent of parents wouldn't be happy with that.'

As a result of these concerns, Stock has written and produced a new musical, called The Go! Go! Go! Show, which is playing in London.

He said: 'It's born out of my frustration with the way the music industry has gone.

'We've written a family-orientated show. They [the mothers' groups] have been telling me what they want - and we have been trying to deliver it.'
